I camped at Spirit Lake boy scout camp on Mount Saint Helens before it erupted in 1980. I may still have the t-shirt -- I'd have to search for it in my sister's house, but I think I still had it when I stored some stuff over there. If I find it, I'm giving it to my son to wear, although it would be a little big for him. When the mountain erupted, Portland was covered in ash which fell like snow. I had to wear a surgical face mask and shovel our driveway with a snow shovel.
Anyway, I just heard this song again for the first time since right after the eruption about Harry R. Truman, the old man who refused to leave his home on Mt. St. Helens before it erupted. It's not a particularly good song, but it brings back memories.
